2010-2011 Registration and Forms
How can we best serve you?
Adult Formation The journey of our faith is ongoing. Our desire to learn about our faith and our God goes beyond our Confirmation. Formation takes us from the time of our baptism though the end of our lives on Earth. The importance of this lifetime journey of discovery is echoed in the 1999 the US Bishops pastoral "Our Hearts were Burning within Us." Throughout the year, our parish offers adults the opportunity to deepen their relationship with Jesus by furthering their knowledge and appreciation of our faith. Little Rock Scripture Study Groups meet each week on either Tuesday evening from 7:15 to 9:30 pm or Wednesday morning from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. Sessions generally run 8 weeks per study. Individual reading and preparation is required before each weekly gathering. Faith sharing and instructional study format. Cost per study program: $15. Call Eileen McPhelin for study program dates (631-728-9248). Beginning a new life together is not only a time filled with love and joy, there is also a sense of anticipation for what the future will bring. To ensure that every couple is fully prepared to enter into this wonderful Sacrament we have a process to assist them. It all begins by asking engaged couples to contact
the pastor to set up an appointment. Please call him at 728-9461. Parents who desire to bring their children into the
life of the Church through Baptism are asked to please call our parish office at
728-9461 to register for our Baptismal Preparation Program. RCIA (The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) The RCIA is a formal process for assisting adults to
enter the Church through Baptism or for baptized adults who need to complete
their Sacraments of Confirmation and Communion. Please call 728-9461 for further
details. Throughout the year we offer various classes and seminars to assist all of us on our ongoing journey of faith. While most of these offerings take place right here in the parish, we also partner with our neighboring parishes and the diocesan Office of Faith Formation. Other valuable personal and ministerial formation opportunities are offered by the Diocese of Rockville Centre, especially through the offices of Stewardship, Worship and Respect Life. Information about our current parish events can be found on our What's Happening page. For information about courses offered by our diocesan offices please visit the following websites:
Sometimes our schedules may be too busy to give us the time to attend a formal class. For this reason our diocese has partnered with the Virtual Learning Community for Faith Formation (VLCFF), an initiative coordinated by the Institute for Pastoral Initiatives (IPI) at the University of Dayton, a Catholic Marianist Institution. You can learn more about this online opportunity, the courses being offered and the discounted registration members of our parish enjoy at: Click on the ADULTS drop-down menu, then on
the link for At our baptism we promised to live a Christ-centered
life. At the heart of this life is the discovery of our faith. While
the parents are the first teachers, our parish offers a formal program of
formation for our children and young people from kindergarten through high
school. It is not only our hope, but also our mission, that this foundation
in our faith be the springboard to a life of learning and growth-ever deepening
our relationship with Jesus. The Church of St. Rosalie takes seriously the formation of our children and youth. This is evident in the call and formation of our Catechists. A Catechist is a partner with parents who is a teacher of religious facts. However, being a Catechist is also something more. A Catechist is a personal example and witness to a life of faith and prayer. To discover how you can share your faith with others contact the Coordinator of Religious Formation by email or by calling 728-9248. Assistant Catechists and Hall Monitors Other adults and teenagers assist the ministry of Catechesis by helping our Catechists and participants in the Meeting Room, in the Hallway and in the Religious Formation Office. Contact the Coordinator of Religious Formation about the variety of opportunities to minister. Training in the VIRTUS program is required
for all Catechists, Assistant Catechists and Hall Monitors over the age of 18.
